About
Ecological interactions, those between living organisms and their environment, are often at the core of conservation- and sustainability-related issues. Therefore, addressing these issues will require an understanding of ecology, while incorporating perspectives and approaches from other disciplines. To that end, minors, certificates, and courses added to the coursework for a degree in Ecology can prepare AB students for an interdisciplinary career at the intersection of conservation and sustainability, and architecture, fashion, food systems, energy production, etc.
Currently, the Odum School of Ecology is the academic home of the Sustainability Certificate, which aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values to make connections across the ecological, economic, and social sciences to find solutions to local and global sustainability challenges.
Numerous OSE Faculty are active in Sustainability Science/Conservation Ecology research and collaborate with the Office of Sustainability.
