Prof. Emeritus Whit Gibbons was honored by the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association in October. Gibbons received the 2019 Sharon Ruston Award, which recognizes the best communication work related to mentoring and encouraging youngsters in the outdoors, the group wrote in a press release.
