Athens, Ga. – The annual University of Georgia STEMzone will take place Saturday, Nov. 9 beginning at 1:00 p.m., just before the Missouri game on the Zell B. Miller Learning Center lawn.

STEMzone, now in its third year, will host a dozen interactive booths to engage people of all ages on research being done at UGA in the science, technology, engineering and math fields.

“This year we have some exciting new booths, and wonderful returning pleasers, so I have big hopes for STEMzone 2019,” said Caitlin Conn, a doctoral student in ecology and member of the STEMzone planning team. “Existing STEM enthusiasts and those to be will find a whole world of awesome research made accessible to everyone in the family through fun and thought-provoking activities,” she said.

While the booths and activities are geared toward young children, people of all ages can find something interesting to take part in. All booths will have an engaging activity for people to participate in as they walk into the stadium.

There will be a diverse range of topics for visitors to explore, including brain anatomy, monarch butterflies, reptiles and underwater robots, said Conn.

STEMzone was created three years ago by ecology graduate student Reni Kaul to introduce the community to research being conducted at UGA. It has since grown into an interactive outreach event that bridges the gap between two otherwise unrelated realms: football and research.
