The UGA River Basin Center and UGA Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems are partnering to hire a scientific communications professional to help them tell a clear story about UGA’s interdisciplinary, applied water-related research and policy development.
This position will serve as the communications coordinator of the UGA River Basin Center (estimated 70% time) based in the School of Ecology, and the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (estimated 30% time) based in the School of Engineering. Both of these units focus on applied water research and draw their faculty affiliates from across UGA. The coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing a communications strategy for each unit, including a social media plan. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree or higher in a communications field OR a degree in ecology, environmental management or a related field. Those with a communications degree should have sufficient scientific training to read and understand primary literature; conversely, those with a science degree should have training and experience in communications. Starting salary is $37,000 with full benefits.
