Meet Melanie Frick, a second-year student pursuing a B.A. in Ecology, Horticulture minor, Sustainability Certificate and the Urban and Metropolitan Studies Certificate here at UGA!
Primarily interested in sustainable urban gardening, Melanie is involved with Georgia’s State Botanical Garden’s Children’s Garden Team through their Learning by Leading program. She is also a volunteer and social media coordinator for EcoReach, the Odum School of Ecology’s outreach organization. Through these teams, she is able to mesh her love for the outdoors and science education in her local community.
Why did you decide to add the Sustainability Certificate?
“I was able to learn so much in my first sustainability seminar alongside peers from colleges all across UGA. Hearing their reasons for incorporating sustainability into their work widened my perspective on how sustainability can be implemented in multiple facets.”
