Monarch butterfly research by Odum School doctoral student Dara Satterfield and Associate Dean Sonia Altizer is featured in an article in the Nov. 18 edition of the New York Times. The story focuses on how tropical milkweed—often planted in an effort to replace declining populations of native milkweed, the only plant monarchs lay eggs on—appears to play a role in disrupting monarch migration.
