Odum School undergaduate Carmen Kraus wins CURO Symposium Best Paper Award

Odum School of Ecology undergraduate Carmen Kraus won a best paper award at the 2014 Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities Symposium held on March 31-April 1, 2014.

Kraus, a Ramsey Honors Scholar from Athens, Georgia, is majoring in ecology and scientific illustration. Her paper, “Density Dependent Regulation of Survival and Reproduction in Dogbane Beetles and Underlying Host-Plant Interactions,”  won the award for Best Paper in the Physical and Environmental Sciences.

Along with Kraus, Odum School undergraduates Lara Mengak, Kelly Murray, Giovanni Righi, Scott Saunders and Chelsea Sexton presented papers.

Posters were presented by Kraus and Laura Alexander, Alison McWhorter Anderson, Breanna Crowell, Kaleigh Davis, Rachel Jude, Lara Mengak, and Timothy Montgomery.

CURO faculty mentors from the Odum School included Professor Jeb Byers, Associate Professor John Drake, Associate Professor Andrew Park, Professor Catherine Pringle, Associate Professor Amy Rosemond, and Assistant Professor Richard Shefferson.
