Undergraduate Application Information

The undergraduate admissions staff at the Odum School of Ecology seeks academically proficient students with quantitative skills and a keen interest in environmental studies. If you are accepted to the University of Georgia, you are one of these accomplished students and we would be pleased to talk with you about a major in Ecology as a career step. While not a requirement for the Ecology degree, advanced placement credits smooth the academic road; AP credits in chemistry, math, statistics, physics, and/or biology are particularly useful. We encourage students to consider Ecology if they are confident in approaching the quantitative sciences mentioned above, as the Ecology degree is a coming together of natural history with these quantitative sciences. Ecology is itself an experimental science based on the scientific method of hypothesis testing. Thus, research will be strongly encouraged as an important part of your Ecology degree. Finally, language skills will be required, brought to UGA or earned a the University, for the Odum School strongly encourages and facilitates experience gained from international travel.
